Some even more bizarre projects from the recent past:

Control of the ‘start’ & ‘run’ capacitors for a rotary three phase converter using the NE555 chip, a deceptively simple circuit that worked wonders for this problem. (picture 1)

PWM speed control for a model railway system, all done in software, including features like soft start, short circuit on line detection and slow down then reverse commands. (Bottom picture 1)

VGA Colour corrector, to compensate for the blue look of computer display images when photographed under tungsten lighting conditions on a film set

A radio Q light system for amateur dramatics theatre producers, with red and green buttons at the sending end, and 8mm red and green LEDs on the receiver end, plus GPI outputs.

Syncomatic, the only general purpose box of tricks to synchronise virtually any PC video source to a film camera at 48 FPS, either as is or to display 96 FPS for a smooth bar free display on film.

White noise generator, a small battery powered unit to create a white noise electromagnetic field around one’s person, to effectively block out any other electromagnetic radiation effects.
