A concept from Gwen at Moonraker farm, and designed for a very practical purpose.
That of monitoring the heating in a chicken shed for young chicks, their temperature is critical for survival, and difficult to monitor during the hours of darkness and whilst away on the tractor, planting, harvesting, cultivating etc.

Now with ‘ChickCheck’ you will at least be informed, by radio, and know to take any action. Whether that’s in the middle of the night, or when your half a mile away from the sheds.

The display unit takes the form of a radio receiving device (RX), that you can carry around with you.
This will display four functions :-
1] The shed that has a problem, numbered 1-8, this can monitor up to eight sheds.
2] Temperature is too high, maybe a fire, or burner problem.
3] Temperature is too low, chicks in trouble, gas running out etc.
4] Battery about to expire, a warning well in advance of the unit failing.
Also an audible warning of any alarm situation, from a frantic beep beep for over temperature to a slow blip to warn of low battery
It can be powered from a vehicle 12V battery, a plug top PSU, or it’s own 4X ‘AA’ internal batteries.

The remote ‘senders’ are the same compact size, and battery operated. They do nothing most of the time, and therefore draw very little from the battery, but ‘wake up’ every five minutes, check temperature etc. and radio back the results, if anything new. A remote temp. sensor plugs into the right hand side and comes with 1.5M of cable. The desired alarm temperature can be set between 15 and 80 degrees Celsius by a trimmer on the front panel, and is user set-able.

This unit will be available soon from good ‘chicken stockist's’, from Moonraker Farm in Pewsey or directly from Fisher Products in Barnet, London.

Price - probably in the Ł400 region for a minimal setup 1 TX and 1 RX, but if there is a demand then it could drop dramatically. Note the product could be used for any temperature monitoring - greenhouse - air conditioning - old peoples home etc.
